Johnny Smith alnico 5 mini humbucker bar magnet

A Johnny Smith mini humbucker differs from a standard mini humbucker in a few key details. A mini humbucker uses a bar magnet with a steel pole blade and pole screws in their bobbins. A Johnny Smith uses a bar magnet directly inside one of their bobbins and has a magnetic steel baseplate which transfers the magnetism to the pole screws on the other side of the pickup. This makes Johnny Smith mini humbuckers have one dominant coil with a much stronger output than the other, giving them a much more focused, single-coil-like tone.
