The small slide switches that you can find installed on Jaguar and Jazzmaster pickguards and control plates. These are often used as the switch to activate the rhythm circuit on the upper bout of the guitar. They are additionally used as pickup and strangle switches on a Jaguar.
These switches have two positions. In each position they connect the two centre contacts to the two contacts on either end, allowing for many different wiring schemes to be utilised for different switching options.
